ŠKODA launch digital campaign 'Your Team'
ŠKODA brings the biggest cycling event in the world to the masses with the launch of a digital campaign to connect cycling fans to the sport they love.
ŠKODA gears up for the summer of sport by launching Your Team, a Fantasy Cycling game inviting fans to create their team of nine riders to take on Le Tour de France. Players create their team based on all of the cyclists taking part in the tour, with options such as Mark Cavendish, Chris Froome and many more. They will then compete at each stage of the tour to get their hands on top prizes like a VIP trip to next year’s Tour as well as a top of the range, high-spec ŠKODA Road bike and a selection of professional ŠKODA cycling equipment and clothing as worn by the pros.
ŠKODA is celebrating its 11th year as the official sponsors of the sporting event and wanted to bring the Tour closer to their UK fans as it takes off in Leeds next month and works its way down to London on the 7th July.
ais London has partnered with cycling experts road.cc to create a digital campaign that connects amateurs and fans alike, bringing them closer to the sport they love. With options such as a ‘pick my team for me’, the game welcomes people with all levels of cycling knowledge. ŠKODA UK and ais London even teamed up with big cycling names such as Ed Clancy and Chris Opie to create ‘how to play’ videos so everyone can get on board. The campaign will be supported on ŠKODA UK’s Facebook and Twitter channels, with spot prizes being given away during the event.
Players can start building their teams right through to 27th July when the cyclists cross the finish line.
Emily Burns, marketing communications manager at ŠKODA UK says about the campaign: “As a brand, ŠKODA has been behind cycling for over 100 years and this year marks 11 years of Le Tour sponsorship. We are the ‘Team behind the Teams’ and really feel like this campaign brings Le Tour to the masses by connecting the event with a broad digital audience.”
Geoff Gower, executive creative director at ais London says “This is a really exciting campaign for ŠKODA. With Le Tour de France kicking off in Britain this year, it just felt right to give fans more of what they love and get them closer to one of the fastest growing sports in the world.”
